What is a Project M Camper?
The Project M is the most affordable pop-up camper Four Wheel Campers sells. It is ultra-light and rugged, with a large cabover sleeping area, and it can fit on full-sized trucks and mid-sized trucks with short and long truck beds.
The sleeping area in models for the Jeep Gladiator and mid-sized trucks measures 81” long by 66” wide. The cabover sleeping area in models for full-sized trucks measures 81” long by 72” wide, giving all Four Wheel Campers under the Project M category the ability to sleep up to two adults.
The Four Wheel Campers Project M has two windows, a rugged vinyl pop-up liner, insulated side walls and roof, and a 13” shelf down each side of the camper’s interior. With Project M, you can use your entire truck bed as you desire.
The entire unit is sealed and watertight and the back door is lockable for security when you stop for a grocery run. That door size does vary depending on the size of your truck, however. For Jeep Gladiator and mid-sized truck models it measures 53” wide by 26” high and those dimensions increase to 62” x 26” for full-sized truck models.

These Four Wheel Camper models all share the same durable build construction, featuring a welded aluminum frame, a one-piece aluminum roof, and aluminum siding. Each model sleeps up to two adults and comes pre-wired for interior lights, a roof vent fan, and solar panels.

Why Did Chris Choose a Project M Camper?
He considered a Sprinter van, but the towing capacity wasn’t good enough for hauling his 28-foot trailer to various events and campsites. That’s when he discovered Four Wheel Campers pop up truck campers, and in particular the Project M camper.
Chris soon fell in love with his perfect rig.When popped up, the camper is 6’7” tall, perfect for Chris, who stands at 6’5”. He said he can’t even stand in most travel trailers or box trailers.
“We never even take the camper off of our truck,” said Chris. “It weighs around 420-460 pounds, so light I don’t even notice it for daily driving.”
Chris and his wife can now enjoy a queen-sized bed with a comfortable mattress and linens. They also set up a lower bed and a couch in their Four Wheel Camper where their kids sleep.
“We can sleep six in there comfortably,” he said. “Having a bed in a camper that’s as comfortable as our bed at home has been a game changer.”
The Hollingsworths keep camping gear, fishing gear, and generators in there and can easily lock the camper. They have a bed liner in the truck, then carpet cut to fit, and a huge shag rug on the floor.
“We also have a Mr. Heater indoor propane heater,” said Chris. “We’ve camped in the snow, completely sealed.”
The Benefits of the Project M Camper
Chris loves that his pop up truck camper is always ready to head out for a camping trip. He lives in the Sacramento area, close to mountains, rivers, and lakes.
“There’s one lake called Sterling Lake that I’ve been going to for 30 years,” he said. “We could never get a trailer up to it, just getting a truck to the side of the lake was an adventure. We just drove our truck camper to the shoreline of the lake and went fishing and kayaking. Just being able to get to places with a camper has been phenomenal.”
They did a family trip to Fort Bragg and dove for abalone, pulling a huge trailer full of toys. They did an overnighter to Santa Cruz, with activities like skateboarding, surfing, and disc golf. Sometimes they tow a pontoon boat and other times a dinghy bass boat for fishing.
Plus, the Project M from Four Wheel Campers is good for emergencies for a family who lives next to an area prone to summer wildfires.
“Living here is a matter of when the forest is going to burn down,” said Chris “We had a fire just three miles from our house, so it’s good to know if we had to evacuate, we could leave in our Four Wheel Camper. I have a big container in back with our essential needs prepped and ready.”
The One Thing They Can’t Live Without in their Project MCamper
The interior of Chris’ Project M Four Wheel camper is decked out as a cozy space with throw blankets and animal-print blankets. Their Project M from Four Wheel Campers was essential for travel during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
“Our most important piece of equipment in our camper is our Luggable Loo,” Chris said. “During COVID there were no restrooms, We traveled around camping and if we needed to go to the restroom, we’d just climb in the back of the truck and go.”
The Hollingsworth family also used their rig as a restaurant. They’d pop the top to create a living space, and everyone would climb in the back and eat.
“Everyone else was in the front seat of their cars ruining their interiors with food,” said Chris,” and we were in the back of our own little restaurant.”

The Hollingsworth’s Big Plans
As the Hollingsworth’s kids start to grow up and do their own thing, the couple is dreaming big about their next adventures with their lightweight pop up Four Wheel camper.
Both of them love to fish and compete in sport fishing tournaments. Their new business is printing and making socks with fish species on the side.
“We started with 3 species and now have over 60 species,” Chris said, and that they’re now expanding into other areas of business with their socks. “We also print disc golf socks. Now we’ve gone further and make businesses socks and socks with energy drink cans.”
They’re thinking of throwing the printing gear into the trailer, traveling to various events, and printing socks right there on the scene.
“We could live anywhere,” Chris said. “Life should be fun and this camper has allowed us to make everything more fun.”
